rachel rachel has been farming in new england for the past eight years. she came to farming in a roundabout way, through the path of social and political activism. rachel was slowly drawn to local organic agriculture as both a tool to effect community change and a lifestyle that emphasized those things that were important to her--being outdoors, conserving natural resources, working alongside lots of different people, and of course, eating good food! she worked on vegetable farms in massachusetts for a few years before moving up to maine to manage a large csa. enjoying the farming and social communities here, she found this land and began her own business. she enjoys being a part of the farming community here and wants the farm to be a place of rest and meeting for family and community members. she also really enjoys being close enough to the ocean to go swimming and surfing...when she gets a bit of time!
bethanny bethanny is entering her fifth season farming. she met rachel through a farming apprenticeship in southern maine. after the apprenticeship she moved down to north carolina to try growing nearer to her family. after deciding that n.c. was not the place for her, bethanny moved back to maine to help rachel start wildroot farm. bethanny credits her mother for giving her a good start in gardening and would like to thank her friends and family for giving their support and love to her agricultural hopes and adventures. |
